About
hi! My name is Shina. i’m a follower of Christ, content creator, essentialist, hiker, DIYer and plant-based eater.
Shi Walks With God is a lifestyle blog about Spiritual Growth through Intentional Living. My goal is to share what I’ve learned to inspire and equip you in ways to strengthen your spiritual walk and live a life you love with Christ.
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith.” -Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV
This is my story.
My walk with God, for the last 15 years, has been anything but ordinary. Life as a follower of Christ has had many ups and downs and in-betweens. Although it hasn’t always been an easy road, I wouldn’t have changed it for anything. The day that God changed my heart was the best day of my life.
I spent my early years as a new believer, in 2005, studying God’s word and growing in faith; soaking up as much scripture, sermons, and devotionals as possible.
I graduated from college in 2012 with my degree in Psychology. I got a highly sought after job with a good salary, but I was miserable. I was stressed out and sick all the time. Between work and serving in ministry I was overwhelmed, burnt out, and drowning in a sea of my need to people please; burdened by the fear of disappointing God, myself or anyone else.
I had bought into the lie that life was just happening to me as if I had no control over it. I cared way too much about what others thought and was giving people way to much power over my life decisions. I hated my life and was blaming everyone else for it.
The choice to live intentionally and take accountability for my life changed my whole walk with God. It changed everything. One of the biggest decisions I made was to stop living defeated, like a helpless victim. I took ownership of my life, my identity in Christ and my faith.
With one intentional decision at a time, God helped me to re-structure and reorganize my life. I took inventory of what I didn’t want and envisioned what I truly desired my life with Christ to look and feel like. So I began setting healthy boundaries, taking accountability and creating better habits. Since then, I’ve been healthier, more joy-filled and at peace.
During this time, in 2016, I was scrolling through Netflix and stumbled on the Minimalist Documentary. Talk about an AHA! moment. It felt like the next natural step in my intentional living journey. The philosophy of having less stuff, so that you can live more life.
I dove headfirst into minimizing and simplifying my life. I got rid of so many things that were weighing me down. Things I didn’t need and things I didn’t even know I had. It was such a freeing feeling.
In March 2016, I felt The Lord leading me to create a place to document my faith journey. So, I created a home online to share what I’ve learned in my walk with God. This community is for anyone who is just as passionate as I am about creating an intentional life with Christ.
There’s nothing I love more than creating meaningful content that inspires and equips others to live intentionally for Christ.
What is Intentional Living?
It’s about claiming your identity in Christ, taking ownership of your life and pursuing what you were created for. When the purpose God gave you is put into action you can create a life you never even dreamed of or imagined.
“It is not what we do that determines who we are; it is who we are that determines what we do.”
-Neil T. Anderson
