Remember Where You Came From

This thought came to me while I was driving back from Tennessee to New York. As I watched the sunrise in front of me with such big beautiful, bold and brilliant colors I was transfixed and began to think about how exciting and energizing sunrises are. That made me think of sunsets and how they’re calming and relaxing. I thought to myself “It’s so funny how once the sun rises people tend to forget about it as the day goes on, until it’s sets.” Once the sun is in the sky people tend to just kind of not really take note of it.

New Perspective

It was that moment that God laid on my heart the parallels between the sun rising and setting and the cycle of our lives. When we’re born it’s like a sunrise. We’re young, excited and full of energy; Bold and brash and full of light.

As the day continues people pay less attention to the sun in the sky, similar to our lives as they continue on. It’s somewhere between birth and the end of life that we get caught up in the middle. It’s kind of hectic and we forget to stop, slow down and pay attention to the little details.

Then in our old age, just like a sunset, we stop and slow down. We have the calm and peace in our lives that a sunset exudes. We watch as the light at the end of our lives slowly fades into the horizon. And we end the same way we began; Bold with color and brilliantly beautiful, but just less energy.

Remember You Came From God

God is so amazing in how he truly designed everything with purpose and meaning. We have but to look to his creation to learn more about our father. He truly inspires us through his perfect design. He was so intentional about his masterpiece.

And as miraculously and intricate as he designed all those things, he spent that much more time, care and love into each of us; his children. If he put that much thought into something like the sun in the sky, just think about how much more intentional he was about designing us to serve a specific purpose.

Just as he designed the sun to serve a very special and specific purpose, he made you to live and serve an even greater purpose. Because unlike the sun and any other created thing, we were blessed enough to be created in his image and likeness.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” -Genesis 1:27 NIV

Now I don’t know about you, but I think that’s pretty amazing. That makes me feel pretty special! So go forth in your day today reassured that you were created to do great works. Be encouraged. Remember to “Live your life on purpose, with purpose!” God Bless you all.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
